I am trying to design a report based on opportunities. I need to show competitor, issues, notes and pending items for each record where "Opportunities" is not blank.  I'm having several problems (1) it doesn't appear pending items are tied to opportunities but include all pending activities in the record and (2) I can't get it to just print each item one time (competitor, issues, notes), even if I mark them all "suppress repeating values".  I am using the wizard....not familiar with report writing software.  Thanks for any help.

Hi Mary,

The problem here is, you are adding multiple child records (Notes, Competitors, Issues) to the report. Each of these entities has a relationship with an opportunity, but there is no relationship that makes sense between each other (for example, a competitor record doesn't have a relationship with an issue record). If you include them in the same report, you will get duplicates, and potentially other strange behavior.

There are a couple of solutions:

1) Create a seperate report for each child item you need to view about an opportunity, For example, have one for pending items, one for issues, etc...

2) Have us create a special kind of report (multiple detail band report) that can display multiple child types for a single opportunity. This report will likely take about 3 hours at our regular consulting rate of $150.00.
