After updating our Stonefield Query software, we have been unable to customize and run our reports.  A number of things are happening:

1) When a report created before the update is run, a contact is listed once for each of the company records the contact is associated with, causing contacts to be listed multiple times.

I contacted support a few weeks ago and Chris Wolf helped me out with a report.  Because that one was the only report I had that worked, I tried to edit it and run it.  Now I'm having the following problems with that report:

1) I repeatedly get an error message "That file is currently open in another application" when I try to output to file.  Closing Stonefield Query and rebooting my computer has not helped.

2) When clicking off that report in the file menu, I receive an error that says COMPANY_SRDS_TYPE is not found. (SRDS Type is the Company field that I added to the report Chris created for me).

Any suggestions?  I need to be able to create new, customized reports, and right now I don't have that functionality.

Thank you!

Hello,

1) Do you get the "That file is currently open in another application" message no matter what file type or file name you output to?

2) The "COMPANY_SRDS_TYPE is not found" message means that the COMPANY_SRDS_TYPE field cannot be found.

To check if that field is actually in the database, go the Tools menu then check off "Display Real Table and Field Names". Then create a new report and see if you can find a field called COMPANY_SRDS_TYPE in any of your tables.

If you do find this field then try adding it to the report and running the report.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply.

After removing the SRDS Type field, I was able to get the file to save correctly.

When I changed the view in tools to display Real Table and Field Names, it didn't work.  A window popped up asking me to report the error.  I've printed off the error report (not even thinking to save it).  I plan to fax it to the number on the report-306-586-5080.   I tried to recreate the problem so that I could get the error report window again to save it and email it to you, but it won't pop up anymore.

If you'd like me to fax the report somewhere else, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

Cari

Hello Cari,

I would like to see some diagnostic information so I can check if the COMPANY_SRDS_TYPE field is being created correctly.

In order to access diagnotistic information you need to add a log.txt file to your Stonefield Query program directory (in the same directory as the sfquery.exe file).

When Stonefield Query starts it will see the log.txt file and it will then create a diagnostic.txt file. Please create and add the log.txt file to your Stonefield Query directory. Then run Stonefield Query and reproduce the error you are experiencing.

Once you have done this please send me in a copy (to support@stonefieldquery.com) of the diagnostic.txt file so that I can examine this information in order to determine exactly what is causing the problem you are experiencing.

Also, what version number of Stonefield Query do you currently have? You can check by going to Help then About Stonefield Query.
