Do you have any scripts setup in your project that run before the login window comes up?

Hi,

Prior to 3.20, the login screen appear immediately once the main screen shown. But now, login screen only appear after 3 seconds of main screen shown.

Is it possible that you made changes in the installation through the configuration tool?
I too found that the first time you start SQ AFTER making changes the setting up takes longer (up to a few seconds). My guess is that this is due to the new settings, made in the configuration.

My experience also is that the next time the startup is a lot quicker.

Hi,

I retest my report under "Englisg" environment, and it takes 35 seconds, to render 126 pages which contains 4105 records.

Is it consider acceptable? I am not sure. However, I always feel VFP always able to show report in a second.

VFP only shows a report in a second in VFP 8 and earlier or if you use SET REPORTBEHAVIOR 80 in VFP 9. The reason the report runs so quickly is that it only renders the first page, then displays it. After that, each page is rendered as needed; for example, page 2 is rendered when you click the Next Page button in the Preview Window toolbar. You can see this if you preview a long report (say 100 pages) and click on the Last Page button and see how long it takes.

We use SET REPORTBEHAVIOR 90 to take advantage of object-assisted reporting. However, one of the downsides is that every page must be rendered before the report is displayed. For a long report (say 100 pages), it might take 15 - 30 seconds, depending on the speed of the computer and how complex the report is. Once the report is displayed, moving between pages, even going to the last page, is instantaneous.

If you want to use the old report engine, in Step 5 of the Quick Report Wizard, turn on the Use Old Engine option. This won't allow you to use dynamic expressions or rotation or take advantage of the features in our Preview Window (such as export, email, or search) but will bring up the first page of the report very quickly.
